The walking on the Long Mynd and other Shropshire hills is unparalleled. You will find everything from a gentle stroll to some serious hill walking. Start your exploration from the town of Church Stretton, just 7 miles away, which nestles in a deep valley formed by the Long Mynd and the Caradoc hills, providing excellent walking country. A brisk climb up Caer Caradoc, the site of an Iron Age Hill Fort, is rewarded by panoramic views over the Shropshire Plain. The National Trust manages much of the area (over 5000 acres) and has a popular visitor centre in Carding Mill Valley.
Gliding is on offer at the West Midlands Gliding Club on the Long Mynd or you can take a relaxing round of golf on the hilly local 18-hole course.
Shropshire also has an abundance of glorious gardens, both private and public, which are often open during the summer months for those of you who enjoy a wander through the rose bushes.
